/Recommended Vendors

In October 2007, UTO issued a request for propsoal (RFP) for vendors to assist university organizations in Web development. The list of vendors who responded is available as a download at the bottom of this page. Although the RFP listed Drupal in its technical requirements, not all vendors included Drupal among their technical skills. If your project requires Drupal, please discuss with the vendor its past experience with Drupal and its ability to deliver the project within your timeframe.

The hourly rates of the companies were presented in more detail in the RFP responses. These rates were for a variety of services, such as database administration, project management and Java back-end programming services. The rates were not specific to a unit's website redesign work, so please ask a vendor to quote rates for the specific job that your unit needs, and feel free to negotiate.

One of the most critical factors determining the failure or success of a Web project is the management of scope changes. If you change the scope of work after the initial written contract, the timeline and cost associated with your project may also change. Please ask the vendor how they collect specific, detailed, written requirements from your unit, and how your unit and the vendor will approve and manage possible scope changes. Be sure the approval process is written into your contract.

Finally, track the work done based on written project requirements. Vendors may run an audit on your desired and existing sites and assist you in developing this project requirements. Also, be sure to check a vendor's references.

ASU does not require RFP for any contract that is less than $50,000.
