Logos within Campus and Building Design

To ensure a consistent, high quality design program for environmental graphic design, and to promote the primacy of the ASU brand throughout the graphic design environment.

Applicability:

  • Every ASU campus and building

Definitions:

  • ASU Sunburst Logo - the official logo of the university. This logo represents every unit of the university and every location. The ASU logo was introduced in 1995 to communicate enlightenment, tradition and aspiration. ASU is now defining itself as a New American University, and the sunburst logo provides a strong and recognizable graphic image of ASU's mission and purpose. This logo combined with the name of the university in the official font (the ASU word mark) is called the ASU signature.

  • Endorsed Brand Logo - An officially approved logo specific to a college, school, or unit. All endorsed brand logos must be approved by the ASU Marketing Council. To contact the council at (480) 965-3203.
  • University Seal - the official seal of Arizona State University.This seal represents the official seal of the state of Arizona with the words "Arizona State University 1885" encircling it. Use of the seal is reserved for approved signage, formal and official documents such as diplomas, legal and official records, transcripts, programs for formal academic ceremonies, and any other legal agreements binding the university. The seal used in signage requires presidential approval.

Definitions:

  • Unit: In this policy, a school, college, program, institute, center, or any other university function or organization is referred to as a unit.

Use of ASU Logo and Endorsed Brand Logos

  • Only the ASU logo may be used in the public commons. The public commons is defined as the common space of the campus or the public spaces in mixed use buildings.
