Opening .zip Files
Zip files compress and store other files, much like a briefcase contains many pieces of paper. To view the files contained in a .zip file, you must have a program that can read zip files, such as WinZip® or Stuffit® Expander. Both may be downloaded for free as trial versions. Windows XP can "unzip" .zip files without additional software.
To open a zip file:
Note: These instructions follow the procedure for using WinZip. The procedure is similar for Stuffit Expander.
- Download and install .zip software (if not using Windows XP):
WinZip®: http://www.winzip.com (free for 30 days)
Stuffit® Expander: http://www.stuffit.com (free) - Go to the webpage containing the .zip file you wish to view.
- Click on the link to the file.
- You will be prompted to Open or Save the file. Select Save.
- A window will open allowing you to choose a place on your computer to save the file. Browse to your desktop and choose Save.
- After the file has downloaded, go to your desktop and double click the .zip file.
- Your .zip software will open. You may need to choose "I agree" to use the trial version.*
- The files will be displayed in the WinZip window.
- Click on the "Extract" button.
- You will be prompted to choose a location to which to save the files. Click on the file button to create a new folder called "ASULogos" and click OK.
- When your folder is created, click Extract.
- Your file folder will appear on the desktop with the logos inside.
*Please note that WinZip is only free for 30 days.

Applications for Editing Logo Files
ASU logos are in Encapsulated Postscript format (.eps). This high-quality format is recognized by Macintosh and Windows. EPS files can be imported into most applications but must be edited in a graphics editing application, such as
- Adobe® Photoshop http://www.adobe.com/photoshop/
- Adobe® Illustrator http://www.adobe.com/illustrator/
- Macromedia® Fireworks http://www.macromedia.com/fireworks/
